You know, I couldn't have written the story Jeannette did, because I couldn't bring myself to leave it at that (hence the made-up epilogue!). It just has to end happily.
When we were bookmarking all the stories in kirkspock in Delicious and had to do about 10 months worth in four weeks, we got to read (or skim) a lot of stories we wouldn't ordinarily read if we weren't cataloguing. We found a slew of tragic stories that had been posted in Jan/Feb - the darkest months of the year for those of us north of the equator -- and my goodness some of them were hard to read. We created a Delicious tag especially for those stories, and called it "fangirltrauma". :-)
